CHOOSE NZ KING SALMON: THE WORLD’S FINEST SALMON

Sustainably raised in the crystal clear waters of New Zealand’s Marlborough Sounds, Regal Marlborough King Salmon is known for its incredible flavour, colour, texture and healthy omega-3 fatty acids. It’s the unique mix of currents, water quality and temperatures, the ‘merroir’, that elevates our NZ King Salmon above the rest.

We are lucky in New Zealand to have a bounty of NZ King Salmon, while the Atlantic species is the most common around the world. It’s important to know the difference. Atlantic salmon sold in NZ often comes from countries as far away as Norway and is frozen for the long journey. King salmon generally has a higher healthy fat content, making it easier to cook with. Home cooks will usually get a better result with King salmon (Regal is Reg's favourite).

WOOD ROASTED, COLD SMOKED OR FRESH? 

Regal is available in a variety of cuts and styles to suit every occasion. All our products are GMO-free and free from gluten. 

- Wood Roasted - hot or cold, on its own or in pasta or salad dishes. 

- Cold Smoked - ideal for delicate finger foods, canapés, sandwiches and bagels. 

- Fresh - perfect for sashimi and sushi, oven baking, poaching, pan-frying or grilling.

COOKING REGAL SALMON

Regal Salmon is ready to eat when the flesh turns opaque. It is quite safe to serve salmon rare and it can also be eaten raw*. Salmon cooks very quickly and should flake easily when tested with a fork.

*Pregnant women should avoid eating chilled pre-cooked seafood products (unless eaten hot) and uncooked seafood.

HOW MUCH?

Fresh: Allow 125g to 150g per person

Smoked: Allow about 50g per person 

AL’S TIP

Smoked salmon freezes surprisingly well. Simply defrost and allow to return to room temperature before eating.
